SMS4Cash
We had a client approach with a concept for a new customer service. The concept was based on users being able to turn unwanted SMS messages into cash. The idea was that if the users sent messages to a certain set of numbers the client would receive a small usage charge paid by the networks, so the client wanted to build a service that made use of this and share the rebate with the end user.
For this we had to work with the customer to define how the service would function as it had many different elements:
- A mobile application was needed to send the messages to the numbers specified
- A backend system was required to track messages sent and interface to various payment providers to fulfill and payments to users
- Interfaces to the telecom providers was required to receive the SMS messages
- A Website was required to explain what the product was, be able to both download the application and make claims (which could also be done from the application)
- We also provided cloud hosting to offer resilience and fail over to the client
The client commissioned us to develop the entire working piece and deliver as a shrink-wrapped solution that he could then take to market.
We had to work carefully on the branding with the client as they wanted a joyful fun design but not so joyful it wasn’t taken seriously.
